The Sakonnet River Bridge is a fairly new bridge. It was built in 2012, and replaced the previous 1956 truss bridge. The bridge carries RI-24 and RI-138, and it also has a path on the north side for pedestrians and cyclists.

The original bridge was a Toll Bridge, but the tolls were removed in 2003. In 2012, this decision was reversed with the construction of the new bridge. However, this toll was removed in 2014. In 2019, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation stated that they would not impose any tolls on the bridge in the future.
