Bridge Information
The Veterans Memorial Bridge is the newest of Chattanooga’s bridges across the Tennessee River. It was built in 1984 and is one of many bridges in the country with the same name. It is a is a pretty standard continuous steel girder bridge. The bridge honors veterans by flying American flags, which are replaced twice a year. The flags were originally placed and maintained by an anonymous donor. In 2013 the donor stopped replacing the flags, and individuals in the local community began sponsoring the flags.
